Wem der 700B zu teuer war . . . . für den gabs den 400er
Auch in Amerika waren 1972 die 800.- Dollar für den ersten richtig großen Leistungsverstärker viel Geld. Es sollte also ein kleinerer "Bruder" auch diese Käufergruppe abdecken.
So wurde das große Haupt-Modell - der 700B - etwas abgeschminkt und der kleinere mit unter 500.- Dollar "nachgeschoben" und damit deutlich preiswerter angeboten.
Auf der Rückseite des Prospekts wird wieder kräftig gekurbelt:
Der beste "stereo power amp" in seiner Leistungsklasse ungeachtet des Preises.
Leider waren auch hier die beiden Kühlbleche unterdimensioniert und die wurden erst bei der "Series Two" vergrößert.

When more power is demanded (verlangt wird) by a loudspeaker than the amplifier can supply, "clipping" of the wave form (music) will occur. The result is that some of the music is not reproduced or becomes distorted and an obvious loss of sound quality results.

Jetzt kommt das "WICHTIGSTE", die Garantie
- aber nur bei dem Modell 700B
Wie man auf der deutschen Broschüre des Importeurs (Teppler) sehen kann, wurden die 2 Jahre Garantie mit Filzschreiber in 1 Jahr umgewandelt. Es gab natürlich einen Grund dafür. Die deutschen Kunden glaubten den ganzen Schmus über die Professionalität dieses sagenumwobenen Phase Linear 700B Super-Verstärkers und bauten den in die Diskos und Tanzschulen ein .... und dort starben sie wie die Fliegen und Teppler hatte ein dickes Problem.
