Im Februar 1964 war der Marantz Vorverstärker "model 7" noch brandaktuell . . .
Irgendwie gab es da zwar schon Verstärker mit so "komischen Teilen", die nicht mehr geglüht haben, - sie nannten das Transistoren - doch das wußten nur die eingeweihten Hifi-Freaks und vielleicht die Verkäufer. Die Interessenten für edles Super-Hifi hatten keine so große Auswahl. Und für uns Buben im Alter von 15 Jahren waren die Preisvorstellungen von 2.000.- und 3.000.- Mark völlig illusorisch.

This new self-powered stereo preamplifier features a high order of versatility together with remarkable ease of operation. Unexcelled performance may be expected of both stereo and monophonic programs. Construction, of course, is of the usual Marantz quality.

FRONT CONTROLS

- Selector - 8 positions: Microphone, Phono 1, Phono 2, Tape-head, FM-AM, FM (multiplexed), TV, Auxiliary. Mode - 5 positions: Stereo, Stereo Reverse, Channel A, Channel B, Channel A + B. The last three are monophonic positions and will be heard from both speakers.
- Volume - Especially developed for Marantz, it is individually tested for 2db tracking at any point of rotation down to 65db attenuation. Total range 90db.
- Balance - A full-range control offering complete cutoff of either speaker.
- Tone Controls - Separate step-type feedback controls in each channel, with identical curves. The steps are in increments of 3db at 50cps and 2 1/2db at 10kc. The controls are removed from the circuit in flat positions.
- Record Equalizer - Effective on Phono positions only. Settings are RIAA, old COL LP, early 78. NOTE: NARTB curve automatically substituted in Tape-head position, and Flat response for Microphone.
- Tape Playback or Monitor - For playing or monitoring stereo and monophonic tapes.
- High Filter - 9kcs and 5kcs. Rumble Filter - 50 and 100cps. Power Switch - Heavy duty (15 Amps).

Dazu muß man wissen, daß die einzelnen amerikanischen Staaten jeweils eine unterschiedliche "purchase tax" (quasi eine Umsatzsteuer) erhoben hatten (ähnlich der Mehrwertsteuer bei uns, die aber bei uns für alle Bundesländer gleich ist) - darum steht dort hinter dem Preis: im Westen ist es teurer !!!
Bei uns in Deutschland kostete 1964 solch ein edler Marantz Vorverstärker mindestens 2000.- bis 2500.- Mark. Mal sehen, was in den alten Funkschaun oder in der Funk-Technik für Preise genannt wurden.
